Our organic cocoa beans lend a bitter sweet taste for every cocoa lover. We recommend it as a mini snack for munching in between meals as well as in combination with tart organic dried fruits such as sour cherries, cranberries or barberries. Cocoa beans are the seeds of the cocoa fruit, which are fermented after harvest and thereby lose their bitterness. Then they are gently dried, which forms the decisive taste of polyphenols and the brown colour. Our raw, peeled (skinned) cocoa beans are unroasted and thus available in raw food quality. It is famous as a much treasured means of food and payment with the natives of Mexico, the Aztecs and Mayans and is considered as "Brown Gold". They were also considered sacred and were worshipped as the gift of the God "Feathered Serpent". The cocoa beans developed as a luxury item in the
entire Europe in 17th Century.
