The sesame plant is undoubtedly one of the oldest known oil-bearing plants. It has been valued for thousands of years for its oleiferous seeds. The sesame plant was originally native to parts of India – today it is mainly grown in Asia and in tropical and sub-tropical areas.
Our Lifestyle Organic sesame oil is obtained solely from selected sesame seeds (sesamum) from controlled organic cultivation areas. Oil is extracted from the unroasted seeds using the gentle cold pressing method.
What is cold pressing?
The raw materials and their contents are pressed cold, ensuring natural processing. Temperatures are kept low, differing according to product. In contrast to hot pressing, no additional chemical substances are used. Cold pressed oil is also known as virgin or unprocessed oil.
This very aromatic sesame oil goes really well with salads, fish, vegetables and Asian dishes. Use it also for roasting and baking.
Our Recipe Tip:
Vegetarian, vegan Wok Stir-Fry with Lifestyle Organic Soy Cutlets
Mix Lifestyle Organic Soy Meat Chunks with Soy Sauce (Tamari) and let them soak for around 7-10 minutes in warm or cold water. Add some vegetable stock or a stock of your preference if you wish. Drain the soy chunks and gently press out excess liquid.
Cook 500 g Chinese noodles using the directions on the package. Drain the noodles and toss them in 1-2 tablespoons Lifestyle Organic Sesame Oil. Heat 1 tablespoon peanut oil in a wok and add a finely chopped bell pepper, 2-3 finely chopped garlic cloves and 2-3 finely chopped medium-sized spring onions. Place the soy cutlets in the wok and brown them for about 5 minutes on a high temperature. Add 200 ml vegetable stock, some chili sauce, curry, ginger (fresh or ground), coriander, salt and pepper and cook for 5 minutes. Finally, mix in the noodles and serve. Enjoy your meal!
