The Cornel cherry is a less popular treasure of our domestic natural gardens.
The Cornel cherry, also known as Cornel Cherry Tree or Common Dogwood belongs to the Cornaceae family.
They grow on bushes or in small trees. The shrubs can be up to 100 years old. The flowers of Cornel Cherries are golden and the fruits are oblong, olive-like and vary from red to dark red. It has been cultivated in the warmer European countries since centuries.
When ripe, our organic (eco) cornel cherries are harvested, pitted, gently dried in the sun (solar dried) and then disinfested (Disinfestation). The organic Cornel Cherries have a very fruity, sour taste. It is goes without saying that our high quality organic Cornel Cherries do not contain any preservatives or dyestuffs.
In order to avoid kernels or parts of kernels in the final product, these are sorted by laser (laser cleaning) several times by the company AFS (All food services, our processing plant in Austria) after processing. Note: We can use our laser-cleaning system to clean cherries (or other products) from undesired foreign particles such as kernels, skin, vitreous etc. as per your specifications and requirements.
Organic Cornel Cherries lends your cereals, cakes and desserts a fruity, sour taste. In contrast, it gives savory cuisines like chutneys and sauces that certain extra flavor. For all those who like it sour, our organic Cornel Cherries are perfectly suitable as vegetarian (vegan) healthy raw vegetable for munching in between meals. Since in 100 g (fresh), it contains Vitamin C between 70 and 125 mg – it is a real contributor of Vitamin C. On the contrary, our forefathers have used Cornel Cherries for various ailments such as kidney stones, bloody dysentery and spitting of blood and it is also recommended by Hildegard of Bingen for stomach problems.
